Itty Bitty Hat Drive 2016

I'm getting ready to post off this year's hats to Chance's Clothes Project.

It is always bittersweet participating in the challenge as I like the idea of using up some of my yarn stash to make the hats but hate the idea of them being required. <3 #ibghd2016

Premmie sized Santa Hat

Smaller sized hook and thinner yarn will make a smaller sized hat.
For this one I used a size G or 4 mm  hook and 8 ply yarn.
US stitches are used throughout this pattern.
++ A small amount of stuffing may be used to stuff the white part at the top of the hat.
Abbreviations:
CH = chain
SC = single crochet
INC = increase ( 2 x SC in same stitch)
DEC = decrease (insert hook in first stitch, draw up a loop, insert hook in second stitch, draw up a loop, yarn over and draw yarn through all 3 loops on hook)
DC = double crochet
SK = skip
** = repeat

Starting with white
Ch 2 or magic ring
1) SC x 6 (6 sc)
2) INC x 6 (12 sc)
3) SC in each SC around (12 sc)
4) SC in each SC around (12 sc) ++ stuff top
5) SC DEC around (6 sc)
change to red yarn
6) INC x 6 (12 sc)
7) *SC, INC* x 6 (18 sc)
8) *SC, SC, INC* x 6 (24 sc)
9) *SC, INC* x 8 (32 sc)
10) CH 1, SK 3, *4 x DC, SK3* x 8
11) 4xDC into middle of each shell of round 10
12) 4xDC into middle of each shell of round 11

change back to white yarn
13-14) sc in each stitch around (32 sc)

Fasten off and weave in ends.
